Description:
Wakefield High School is seeking a special education teacher to support a small cohort of students with language-based learning disabilities (dyslexia) effective September 1, 2024. This cohort of students travel together into general education classrooms that are supported by a special educator trained in language-based methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Licensed MA Special Education teacher, Moderate Special Needs
- Minimum 3 years teaching/ Special Ed experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of Language Based Learning Disability interventions and support strongly preferred
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consult with student teams and develop an instructional model and practices that support students with language-based learning disabilities across academic settings
- Complete informal and formal diagnostic assessments and make recommendations for IEP programming and scheduling based on results
- Lead Annual Review IEP meetings, developing IEPs in conjunction with teams that address specific needs of students.
- Coordinate schedule with service providers to ensure compliance with Service Delivery Grids across settings
- Collect, compile and interpret data for progress monitoring and adjusting instructional practice
- Develop Progress Reports related to IEP goals
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of student IEPs
- Incorporate assistive technology to support the needs of LBLD students across settings in accessing curriculum
- Collaborate and consult with Reading specialist and SLP, as applicable, to best support LBLD students on caseload
- Other duties may be assigned.
